It’s no surprise that Valorant is one of India’s most
popular competitive games, and it appears that tournament organisers are taking
notice. Recent social media posts from Bengaluru-based company, The Esports
Club teased India’s biggest Valorant event. It promises the highest prize pool,
highest first place prize pool, dedicated amateur qualifier prize pool, as well
as individual player awards.
Considering that none of the teasers surrounding this are on
Riot’s official social media accounts, safe to say this isn’t related to the
possible Valorant Champions Tour’s India debut.
YouTube video descriptions spotted on The Esports Club’s channel
give us a hint of what to expect. Namely a Rs. 52,00,000 prize pool spread
across four seasons and that the tournament would include South Asia as well.
16 teams will participate in the first season. Previously, Riot Games admitted
to IGN India that Valorant’s popularity in the country has led it to consider
options to serve its burgeoning player base in country at the time we stated
that Riot was looking to give India a spot in the Valorant Champions Tour and
we reached out to Riot.
