Ubisoft revealed that its remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be released before March 31, 2020. The reveal was caught by senior analyst at Niko Partners, Daniel Ahmad. Ubisoft had to delay the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of time, owing to the negative reaction its reveal trailer received. Primarily developed by Ubisoft's India studios, the Sands of Time Remake was originally scheduled for release in early 2021. "Since announcing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise," said Ubisoft India's statement on the delay of the remake. "It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible." "With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date," the statement continued.

Back in April, Ubisoft India Studios announced new leadership. Syed Abbas, who has been with Ubisoft India since the inception of its Pune studio in 2008, was promoted to the managing director position in the company. When the Sands of Time Remake was revealed, Abbas made it absolutely clear in an interview with The Mako Reactor that there were no budgetary or timeline constraints that impeded the game’s development. “No it was not a problem of timeline or budget,” Abbas told The Mako Reactor last year. “For us at Ubisoft quality is of the utmost importance and this is something that we have kept in mind from the start. The project has been in development for the last two and a half years.”
