It would be underselling quite massively if one were to
suggest that PUBG Mobile, now Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) helped
revitalize the esports scene in India – as each year, it continues to blossom
and grow with blistering pace. KRAFTON has just announced the first esports
tournament hosted by the South Korean studio – Battlegrounds Mobile India
Series 2021.
This will be the first time KRAFTON will have hosted an
esports tournament – which is pretty massive for Battlegrounds Mobile India
(BGMI) fans across the country. The launch of the game in India was met with
overwhelming response – with over 15 million daily active users, of which 2.4
milllion were concurrent users (peak) just a week after launch.
Battlegrounds Mobile India Series 2021 will be open to
residents of India only. This is an especially exciting time for competitive
gaming in India and a massively positive sign for things to come – and this
tournament only marks the beginning of a series of new content, collaborations,
and esports tournaments by Krafton in the country.
The total prize pool will be Rs 1,00,00,000, broken up as
follows:
First Place – Rs 50,00,000
Second Place – Rs. 25,00,000
Third Place – Rs. 10,00,000
Fourth Place – Rs. 3,00,000
Fifth Place – Rs. 2,00,000
Other prizes such as MVP, the Lone Ranger, and the Rampage
Freakk will have additional cash prizes of their own.
The registrations for the tournament begins July 19th, and
will have 5 stages spanning across three months. The in-game qualitifiers start
on August 2nd and end on August 8th, and players living in India with a
Platinum account and above is eligible to register and play the in-game
qualifiers.
