eBikeGo has launched its much-hyped electric scooter Rugged
in a bid to electrify India’s two-wheeler segment. Joining the likes of Ola
Electric, Simple Energy, and Ather, among others, eBikeGo aims to tap the
burgeoning demand for electric bikes in India with the launch of the Rugged
electric scooter. eBikeGo claims that
the Rugged electric scooter has been completely designed and manufactured in
India. The company has also made several other bold claims. For instance, the
company is claiming that the Rugged is the strongest and most durable electric
vehicle for Indian roads. Mumbai-based EV start-up eBikeGo has launched its
electric moto-scooter under the brand Rugged at prices starting Rs 79,999
(ex-showroom) for G1 and Rs 99,999 for the G1+ (both excluding subsidies). The
Rugged is equipped with a 3kW motor, which gives it a claimed top speed of
70kph, a range of 160km using two 2kWh battery and a storage capacity of 30
litres. The start-up says it has used data from its Artificial
Intelligence-driven fleet management system and EBG Matics (its patented IoT
tech) from its B2B and B2C operations.
The e-2W body is composed of a cradle chassis and steel
frame, which the company claims makes it among the toughest electric
two-wheeler. Charging the EV batteries will take 3.5 hours. The company plans to begin deliveries in
November 2021. Interestingly, the company says it will offer an overall
warranty of 3 years (standard 200,000km warranty on vehicle, battery and
charger) and 7-year warranty on the
chassis and 3-year.
